3 weeks in our new town.
3 weeks of rain, an ongoing ear infection for my boy No3 and missing Mr Manifesto while continues to commute 2 days a week to Perth for work.
The place we left for a sea change.
Craving a different environment for our boys, reminiscent of our own childhood.
I must admit, I have been missing my friends from Perth this week. I felt a little lonely. I needed adult conversation.
The shine had worn off a little of our dream. Reality had set in.
Then the rain stopped.
The sun came out.
And with it a little hope.
* I managed to get out and walk/run plus a bike ride, 3 times this week already. And I hate exercise. Must be the country air. Messing with my endorphins.
* My 5 year old is getting a honour certificate tomorrow at assembly. As he usually flies under the radar at school, it took him a year and a half to get a certificate at his old school. Been here 3 weeks and getting noticed already. Is that a good thing or not? Hopefully for the right reasons.
* One of the mums at our son’s new school let us know about a music/dance drop in class on Thursdays. So we went for the first time today.
“So this is where all the other mums have been hiding!” I thought as I strolled into the hall with a sea of mums & young kids around me.
We had a lovely morning dancing around to a few songs with the kiddies. Got a fab morning tea (I forgot about the whole country food hospitality thing. Bonus.) plus a hot cup of coffee. And I got to drink it hot. Whoo Hoo! Small things I am grateful for at the moment.
* I met another mum who is a nurse, who let me know the ins and outs of the local hospital. So there may be work options available for me. Double Bonus.
It’s not what you know but who you know. And they share what they know. Confused yet?
And you have to put yourself out there.
So things are looking up. And so is the weather.
Sorry for the ramble but a couple of lovely readers have asked what life is really like with the whole sea change deal.
So here it is.
Mostly shiny with a healthy hint of reality every now and then.
